Online archives, especially those populated with user-generated content, contain a broad range of different videos from all over the world. We would like to investigate the potential of this content to offer a view on the life and habits of people from different cultures all over the world. This interest leads to the following research question:
How can online archives be used to offer a broader perspective on other cultures, events and situations?
Currently most archives present their content as single pages, each containing one video or image. Wonder if this is the best approach, we introduce a second research question:
Is there potential in simultaneously watching multiple videos, as a way to open the viewers perspective?
As the creation of an artwork concerning these two questions will likely result in a selection of images, and thus never be completely objective, we keep a third question in mind:
Is the image that we are presenting
accurate enough?
